Sorry about the delay in posting the new Challenge. The Challenges will now reflect the poll results and include an additional question (or questions if popular) about the movies. Never fear though, the focus will remain on the books - the heart of Harry Potter. The movies won against the other suggestions with 4 votes. So that brings future Challenges the possible points per Challenge to 10/regular, 20/DP plus 5 if there is a Bonus. And so without further ado: Challenge Nine Due Sat July 10th from Books 1-4 1. Maintenance Just a warning: I've been having trouble with the site's host lately as far as updating, so don't be alarmed if the next Challenges show up a bit late. Sometimes I can get on, othertimes I have to wait. You get what you pay for (I'm a free member). Some of the company's other subdivisions have been having problems too, so I'm hoping the problem with the server is fixed. I'll still be grading everything though, so keep Challenge Answers/Random Factoids coming. And please remember to put your name in it. Thanks. -Telyn

Update By the way, Challenges 7 DP and 6 regular are due this Saturday, the 12th of June. A Note on Bonus Questions: Bonus Questions are an all or nothing deal of 5 points. Whether the Bonus question is attached to a Challenge that is DP or a regular Challenge, it is worth 5 points. In order to gain those five points, the answer submitted must be entirely correct. Is this unfair? Perhaps, but it fairer than determining how many points an incomplete answer deserves. If an answer is submitted with a DP Challenge and does not receive points, than a new answer may be submitted when the Challenge reappears as a regular Challenge. Hope this clarifies things. The 'Rules and How to Join Page' has been updated with this information.

News The results of the most recent poll asking about the organization and working of the Challenge system are as follows: 4 "I like it, it works" and 2 "It works but there is room for improvement." For people who have not stopped by in the past week or so- there has been a bit of remodeling. The page with the rules and joining information has been moved from the old portal page to its own page at diaryland. There is also a new way to earn points- see Random HP Factoids for more details.
